News To Note from the Lake Erie Presbytery
Resource Center……..

  From Joy Link, Resource Director

Greetings from the Resource Center!

The Resource Center is back online!  For the latest on what’s new on the shelf, check out our Resource Connections for September, plus More New Titles from Resource Connections, our new and updated Video Catalog, our Seasons of the Year: Advent/Christmas Catalog, our brand new Advent Resources and our List of New Titles purchased just this week, just for you!

Have you read a good book lately?  Do you have suggestions, opinions or comments about curriculum, videos, authors, titles, trends?  Do you have favorite websites that you would recommend to others?  Would you like to network with others in cyberspace conversation?  Do you have resources that you are willing to lend, give or trade?  This is your opportunity to share the good news!  Our weekly "chat session"  will offer news, reviews, and commentary from our faithful fans  but to make it happen, we need to hear from you!  So call or write or e-mail   we’d like to know if you’re reading this web page, and if you are, what you think about it!

Our mission here at the Resource Center is to identify and coordinate resources that will provide individuals and groups in our Presbytery with helpful, up-to-date information and materials.  New books, pamphlets, brochures, surveys, reports and magazines, as well as curriculum updates, are on display at the Center, as well as special Decade of the Child  resources.  Whether it is a special event or an ongoing program, an individual or group activity, a study session or a mission project, we have a broad range of resources available to meet your needs.

And if we don't have what you are looking for, we may be able to purchase it.  If you find something that you think will benefit you, your group or others in our Presbytery, fill out our new Special Resource Request Order Form and send it in!  Call the Resource Center to find out more about the possibilities!  The "reason for request" information is especially important because it will help us prioritize requests in relation to our budget.  Also, by understanding what you need, we may be able to suggest other resources relating to your subject - resources that are either already sitting on our shelves or available in other catalogs!

We encourage you to visit our "show room" in Erie!  Browse, borrow, meet the staff - see what's new on the shelf!  Hours are Mondays from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. or by appointment.  Call me at home 814-333-1883, at the Resource Center 814-868-4891, or e-mail me at linkster@mdvl.net

Remember, our pledge to you: If you if you need it, we'll help you find it!

For those of you interested in Higher Education and Campus Ministry, check out our new websites!  Are there some good resources out there that would help you in your ministry?  Are there special "happenings" that you would like to post on our page?  Words of advice or suggestions that you think would be helpful to others in this ministry?  Let us know - we'd like to hear from you!  Join the conversation!  This cyberspace moment brought to you by the Lake Erie Presbytery Resource Center!

As we continue to organize and sort and look through old files, we occasionally come across "treasures" like the one below!  Take heed: "commandments" like these are timeless - they never grow old!

The Ten Commandments of the Resource Center

I.                    Thou shall not borrow without filling out a card.

II.                 Thou shall return that which thou hast borrowed.

III.               Thou shall take special care of each resource, for each is special.

IV.              Thou shall not make Presbytery resources part of your personal library.

V.                 Thou shall remember the special seasons of the church year and plan ahead.

VI.              Thou shall be patient with the Resource Center Coordinator.  She is here to help you.  If she does not know what you are looking for, explain it to her until she does.

VII.            Thou shall spread the good news about what the Resource Center has to offer.

VIII.         If you lose a resource, remember that confession is good for the soul.  (Absolution can be purchased!)

IX.              Thou shall visit the Resource Center often.

X.                 Remember: A Resource Center is a terrible thing to waste!

From the Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery Center

Until next week, take care and "stay connected!"

  Joy
