  CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

The Answered Call: Presbyterian Response to the Year of the Child   This 36 page booklet includes a sampling of ministries and initiatives begun during the Year of the Child.  The ideas presented in this resource will serve both to celebrate all that was done during Year of the Child 2000-2001 and to encourage others to consider expanding the work that they do for children during Decade of the Child 2001-2010.

  Children's Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study   This brochure provides a glimpse of the upcoming Children's Mission Yearbook and information on how to order this resource. 

  Giving Good Gifts: The Spiritual Journey of Parenthood by George E. Conway.  Conway uses scriptural insights and personal anecdotes to identify seven gifts that parents can give to their children to help them form healthy spiritual identities.

  P.S. God, Can You Fly?  Heart-felt and Hope filled Prayers of Children, by R. Wayne Willis.  Willis has selected a group of poignant meditations on the spiritual struggle from the prayers left in the chapel of the children's hospital where he works.  The raw energy and the honesty of these prayers will renew and challenge all of us on the spiritual journey.

  Presbyterian Health Information for Older Adults Packet   This packet is a resource for Assessing the Care of Vulnerable Elders (ACOVE) that was developed by Pfizer and Rand Corporations and details many age-related health issues.  It includes the following: ACOVE Facts for Older Adults; Choices for Prescription Medicine Coverage; Dealing with Depression; Healthy Guidelines for Women 65 and Over and Healthy Guidelines for Men 65 and Over.

  A Primer on Parish Nursing Resource Packet   This packet provides an overview of duties and responsibilities of a parish nurse, including functions, job description, budgeting and criteria for parish nurses and will assist individuals, congregations, and agencies of the church to better understand the role of a parish nurse.

  Women's Health and Wellness Packet   This comprehensive packet provided in partnership with Pfizer and Rand Corporations, details health and wellness information specific to women.  It includes Health Ministry notes on various health screening schedules, how to communicate with physicians and other health-care providers, Patient's Bill of Rights and much, much more.  It also includes a booklet entitled Transitions that details health issues faced by women as they reach middle age and beyond.

  HUNGER

A Kit Started It!  Hunger Educational Kit

A collection of hunger curriculum for children featuring "Is There Enough?"  Includes resources from Bread for the Word, Church World Service, Heifer Project International, Food Day and more.  Designed for preschool through middle school.

  Is There Enough? A Children's Curriculum on Hunger   Any child can understand the concept of sharing.  Could that make a difference on how we deal with the issue of hunger?  Interactive and biblically based, this new curriculum presents a balanced world where there is enough for all God's children.  There are five stand-alone sessions, which are adaptable for preschool through middle school.  Use in church school, children's church, after school and intergenerational settings.  The Leader's Guide contains reproducible participant pages.

  STEWARDSHIP

Renewed in the Spirit   Stewardship Magazine Volume II Part Four is part of the Stewardship Magazine for Resources to be used in 2002.  It includes worship resources, materials for educations, and reproducible items.  The theme 2001-2002 is Renewed in the Spirit.

  THEOLOGY

Definitions for Guidelines on Inclusive Language   This resource has been revised with a new title, brief introduction, and cover.  Sheldon Sorge wanted to give resource centers copies of this resource with the understanding that it is current.

  YOUTH MINISTRIES

High School/Church School 2002-2003   These church school resources were developed from previously unpublished youth educational materials and are provided on a convenient CD-ROM.  Session plans may be printed for leaders and learners to share in the leadership of the lesson plan.  There are 7 units and 27 sessions.

  New Song II Leader's Guide and CD Set   This is the second edition of the highly successful New Song songbook for youth ministry. The updated version features 50 new songs, a wonderful double CD set that offers 35 professionally produced and recorded songs, plus a leader's guide.

  SOCIAL JUSTICE

Christian and Citizen: Election Year Resource Guide   The materials in this packet take a look at Responsible Citizenship in a Biblical Perspective.  Includes a booklet of General Assembly policy statement summaries and an accompanying study guide; suggested worship resource and sample sermons, handouts on faith-based initiatives, state advocacy, selected resources and web sites and contributions from the Hunger Program and the Peacemaking Program.

  Introducing Micah 6: A Guide for Congregations   The Micah 6 program emphasizes a continuing process of study, prayer, action and service in an attempt to integrate justice, compassion ad spiritual growth.  Through Bible studies and group reflection, congregations are taken on a journey that strengthens their commitment to social and economic justice.  From Church World Service

  Justice or "Just Deserts" an Adult Study of the Restorative Justice Approach  by Rev. Virginia Mackey and Dr. Carolyn Shadle.  This study guide for four 90 minute sessions explores the theory and practice of restorative justice an alternative to the US retributive justice system.

  Out Of the Depths: Voices of the Presbyterian Faith Community at Work After September 11.  This anniversary collection of reflections booklet contains pictures, prayers, worship services, sermons and more from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  The idea for the booklet was born out of the profound belief that we can best begin to discern the face and purposes of God at work in the midst of inexplicable disaster by listening to voices of faith raised in thanksgiving or lament.  These voices explore the nature of suffering, disaster, faith and the presence of God.
